Highland Read-A-Thon: October 19 to November 2
What is the Read-A-Thon?
Our Read-A-Thon kicks off Monday, October 19 and runs through Monday, November 2! It is our big fall fundraiser, and it builds a love of reading at the same time.
For two weeks, students read as much as they can and log their minutes online. Family and friends support each reader by donating on that student's personal Read-A-Thon page. Every dollar raised goes back to our students through the PTA.
Step 1: Activate your child's page
Visit our Highland Read-A-Thon page, then activate your child's personal page.
Share it with family and friends by text, email and Facebook.
Step 2: Log reading minutes
Starting October 19, log in to your child's page and add each reading session with the number of minutes read.
What counts as reading minutes?
- Reading on their own
- Being read to by a parent, sibling or grandparent
- Reading aloud to someone else (even the dog counts!)
- Audiobooks
- Chapter books, picture books, graphic novels, magazines and comics

Earn rewards two ways
Read-A-Thon website rewards
- Send 10 texts: Pajama Day
- Post on Facebook: Free Hat Day
- Read 100 minutes: Bookmark
- Read 500 minutes: Make the morning announcements
- Raise $100: Treasure Chest item
- Raise $300: Hawk VIP Pass

PTA reading awards
On top of the website rewards, the PTA will recognize top readers throughout the fundraiser!
Our goal: $5,000
If Highland raises $5,000, our administrators will wear inflatable costumes ALL DAY before Halloween! Let's make it happen, Hawks!
